Bluebloods : Inglis Easter Yearling Sale 2013
16 EASTER PREVIEW FIRST YEARLINGS BYA DOZEN NEW Buyers have the chance to snap up first crop youngsters by some of the best Australian and interna- tional performers at this year's Inglis Australian Easter Sale. There are 12 "new boys" represented although Medaglia d'Oro (USA) has already proved his worth in the northern hemisphere with runners of the calibre of champion Zenyatta. He is one of three imports with first crop yearlings, the others being the champion two year-old Mastercraftsmen (IRE) and the Kentucky Derby hero Big Brown (USA), the latter also sire of good winners. However the Austral- ian breds can claim some pretty fine race records and pedigrees too, with young sires All American, Denman, Duporth, I Am Invinci- ble, Manhattan Rain, Nicconi, Onemorenomore, Von Costa de Hero and Wanted, the last three all Easter graduates, with their first representatives in the catalogue. All American (Arrowfield Stud) Red Ransom (USA)-Milva (USA) by Strawberry Road (AUS) THE winner of four races and placed ve times for earnings of $1.2m, All American was a very good juvenile who won the Skyline Stakes-Gr.3 and was runner-up in the Blue Diamond Gr.1 and trained on to win the Cantala Stakes-Gr.1 (1600m) at four. He was also placed in the Ascot Vale-Gr.1 and Stu Stakes-Gr.2 at three. His sire, a son of classic winner Roberto, has a wonderful record in both hemispheres and his notable Australian runners include Horse of the Year Typhoon Tracy and another Arrow eld-based Gr.1 winner and now successful sire in Charge Forward. His dam won twice in the US and is a daughter of Australian Horse of the Year Strawberry Road, who was also a Gr.1 winner in Europe before a successful stud career in the US. Milva is also dam of Gr.2 winner More Strawber- ries and her dam Tersa (Mr. Prospector) was Champion Two Year-Old Filly in France, winning the Prix Morny-Gr.1, before leaving seven winners including dual Gr.1 winner Rock Hard Ten (also by a Roberto-line sire). Inbred 3mx5f to Hail to Reason and 4fx4f to Nashua. (Five yearlings) FIRST CROP SIRES Story by David Bay Nicconi
