Bluebloods : Karaka 2012 Yearling Sale Preview
KARAKA 2012 YEARLING SALE PREVIEW 68 F FOUNDATION sire Pentire (GB) continues to deliver at the highest level while Any Suggestion (AUS) has already made a winning start to his career. The signs are all positive as well for the English classic winner Sir Percy (GB) (see story on page 32) whose first European crop has so far produced a stakes winner and two stakes performers from 12 individual juvenile winners. Then there is the newcomer Shocking (AUS) who has arrived at the stud to the warmest of welcomes from breeders. “ You almost get the feeling that some may take Pentire for granted because he just keeps on doing the business,” John Thompson said. “(King) Mufhasa has given him another Gr.1 (Toorak Handicap) and then there’s Kincaple, who’s become the talk horse in Perth, and a host of other winners.” Pentire (Be My Guest-Gull Nook by Mill Reef ) was, at the time of writing, second in the race for the Dewar Award (Australasian premiership). With his proven track record of producing top of the line staying horses and the ability to leave prestige sprint winners, his sons and daughters are sure to be strongly sought after at Karaka. Any Suggestion (Lion Hunter-Advisable by Regal Advice (NZ)) has made an encouraging beginning with his first two year-old winner on the board and appropriately it was Killa Question who carried the Rich Hill colours to that all- important victory. “ He’s got the numbers out there now and everybody has been so positive in their feedback,” Thompson said. “ They are in good stables and the trainers have been very complimentary about their temperament and attitude.” Any Suggestion’s sole Premier Sale representative at Karaka earlier this year was purchased by Lee Freedman for $NZ170,000 and has been placed RICH HILL STUD Enjoying a positive season There’s a spring in everyone’s step at Rich Hill Stud and that’s hardly surprising given the farm’s success in the past 12 months and the stud’s future prospects. VENDORS Sir Percy The Rich Hill Stud draft to next year’s National Yearling Sale will be highlighted in the Premier division by a number of youngsters by Pentire and Sir Percy.
