Bluebloods : Karaka 2012 Yearling Sale Preview
Highview’s roll of honour is a long and proud one and features New Zealand and Australian Horses of the Year as the crack mares Tycoon Lil and Let’s Elope are graduates of the farm. KARAKA 2012 YEARLING SALE PREVIEW 56 A ALIGN and Danroad continue to prove popular choices and Sufficient’s first crop of foals have arrived to widespread acclaim. “Align just keeps on getting a good horse every year and they sell well off an affordable fee, with his yearlings making up to $NZ110,000 at Karaka earlier this year,” Brent Gillovic said. “ The year before he sold up to $NZ150,000, so at $NZ6000 he’s got to be very good value.” Align (AUS) (Night Shift (USA)-Super Trend by Red Anchor (NZ)) was a Champion Australian Juvenile with an AJC Sires’ Produce Stakes-Gr.1 win the highlight of a career which also saw him run the closest of seconds in the Golden Slipper-Gr.1 . The son of Night Shift has proved to be Mr Versatile at stud; while Fully Fledged and Nightlign have emulated their sire with top flight victories as two year-olds, Coup Align has starred in the open class sprinting ranks in New Zealand and currently in Singapore, Out of Align won the Desert Gold Stakes-Gr.3 at a metric mile and was narrowly beaten in the New Zealand Oaks-Gr.1 at 2400m and Pennacchio is a multiple stakes winner at 1600m. At the other end of the scale Everswindell has a New Zealand Cup-Gr.2 over 3200m to her credit whilst Mr Align won the McGregor Grant Steeplchase this season. Last season Align’s son On the Level rose to prominence and proved competitive with the best three year-olds. “ He ran third in the New Zealand Derby and that was a highlight for us and from a relatively small pool of horses we average around half a dozen Group or stakes horses a season,” Gillovic said. HIGHVIEW STUD Where the stars Align With a pair of proven stallions on the farm and a third member of the stallion roster promising to make a name for himself, the bulk of Highview Stud’s broodmare band are well catered for.
