Bluebloods : Karaka 2012 Yearling Sale Preview
KARAKA 2012 YEARLING SALE PREVIEW 46 T THE champion nursery has been without peer for so long but nothing will be left in reserve, with another element added to what has become the auction’s most sought after draft. The stud has reigned supreme as the sale’s leading vendor by aggregate for 30 consecutive years and that remarkable trend looks set to continue. This time it will not only be up to a glittering array of classically bred colts to defend the farm’s unparalleled selling record. “ The biggest thing about this draft is that Patrick will be offering his blue blooded fillies in the sale for the first time,” general manager Marcus Corban said. “ He’s not keeping anything in the paddocks and you’ ll be seeing a tremendous line up of fillies, including a magnificent High Chaparral yearling out of Diamond Like.” A stakeswinning daughter of Danehill and from the legendary Eight Carat family, Diamond Like’s first live foal Ardeche (Dehere) has been a multiple winner in Australia and her Zabeel colt made $NZ2m earlier this year. Named Zephyron, the colt is in the early stages of his career and was fourth at his Caulfield debut. “ High Chaparral’s obviously one of the top stallions around and being out of a Gr.1 -performed Danehill mare it’s a very good cross. We’ve also got a magnificent Stravinsky filly out of Jesmond’s Gift and that family is on fire with Sepoy, while Stravinsky is an outstanding sire of fillies.” The Nureyev stallion will also be represented by a daughter of the Captain Cook Stakes-Gr.1 winner Marquise (ex Eight Carat), whose second foal Shower of Roses made $NZ1.45m at Karaka and subsequently won the Arrowfield Stud Stakes-Gr.1 . “ That’s a fantastic family and then there are a couple of Zabeel fillies out of La Quinta Gold and Better Alternative, who are two fine examples and again from great families that any stud would love to have.” CAMBRIDGE STUD reigns supreme as leading vendor Cambridge Stud’s commitment to New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale series will lift to another level again at Karaka in 2012. VENDORS “The biggest thing about this draft is that Patrick will be offering his blue blooded fillies in the sale for the first time.”
