Bluebloods : Karaka 2012 Yearling Sale Preview
EXCEEDINGLY GOOD (AUS) 2005 bay, Exceed and Excel-Common Smytzer by Snippets Stands: Secret Hill Farms, Beaudesert Exceedingly Good carried the famous Makybe Diva colours to win twice from just eight starts and at two showed his pace to land the Maribyrnong Plate-Gr.3 over 1000m at Flemington, where he defeated the subsequent Gr.1 winner and sire Reaan. By the internationally successful Exceed and Excel (Danehill), Exceedingly Good is a half-brother to the black type winner Common Interest (Festival Stakes-LR) with their dam the stakes performer Common Smytzer. FULLY FLEDGED (NZ) 2005 chestnut, Align (AUS)-Fledged by Bluebird (USA) Stands: Fairdale Stud, Palmerston North A son of the Champion Australian Juvenile Align, Fully Fledged was a precocious colt who won twice as a juvenile and beat the best of his age group in the Diamond Stakes-Gr.1 at Ellerslie. He returned as a three year-old to claim the Listed James and Anne Sarten Memorial and placed in the Hawke's Bay Guineas-Gr.2 and against older opposition in the Newmarket Handicap- LR. He then travelled to Australia and placed in all three starts, including the Phar Lap Stakes-Gr.2, before an injury curtailed his career. All three of his dam's foals to race have won and include the stakes performer Fledgling. GUILLOTINE (NZ) 2004 grey, Montjeu (IRE)-Refused the Dance by Defensive Play (USA) Stands: Windsor Park Stud, Cambridge This half-brother to the Melbourne Cup, Turnbull Stakes and VRC Derby winner Efficient showed an exciting turn of foot and was a Group winner of four races from 1200m to 1900m, with the highlight of his career a defeat of a high quality field, including Maldivian, Sirmione, Pompeii Ruler Zipping, Casual Pass and Alamosa, in the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes-Gr.2 at Moonee Valley. A winner at two and Gr.1 placed in Sydney, Guillotine was rated 116 in the mile category in the 2008-09 ANZ Classifications and equal to top performers Theseo, Mentality, Vision and Power and Niconero. HENRYTHENAVIGATOR (USA) 2005 bay, Kingmambo-Sequoyah by Sadler’s Wells Stands: Coolmore, Jerrys Plains This son of Kingmambo was the winner of the Coventry Stakes-Gr.2 in track record time at two and the following season he completed the prestigious English and Irish 2000 Guineas double. Henrythenavigator also won the St James’s Palace Stakes-Gr.1 in record time at Royal Ascot and the Sussex Stakes-Gr.1 with elite level placings in the Breeders’ Cup Classic, Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and Phoenix Stakes, to retire to stud with a career record of six wins and four placings from 11 appearances. He is also a brother to 1000 Guineas Trial Stakes-Gr.3 winner Queen Cleopatra, who placed in both the Irish 1000 Guineas-Gr.1 and the Prix de Diane-Gr.1 . INTERPRETE (ARG) 1988 bay, Farnesio-Inaccesible by Liloy Stands: Haras El Paraiso Interprete was Argentina’s Champion Two Year Old and Champion Miler in 1991 and was unbeaten in his first five starts, which netted him four Gr.1 victories including the Polla de Potrillos, in which he broke the course record at Palermo. He was the leading first season sire in 1997 and has now produced 33 stakes winners with nine at the top level. Interprete is also the broodmare sire of the Breeders’ Cup winner-Gr.1 Invasor. KHELEYF (USA) 2001 bay, Green Desert-Society Lady by Mr. Prospector Stands: Darley (shuttled to Australia in 2009) Kheleyf won two of his four starts as a juvenile and finished second in the Norfolk Stakes-Gr.3 before he claimed the Jersey Stakes-Gr.3 the following season and also placed in the Lennox Stakes-Gr.2 . He is a brother to the Champion European Two Year Old filly Bint Allayl (Lowther Stakes-Gr.2) and a half-brother to Laa Rayb (Prix Quincey-Gr.3). Kheleyf, third dam Fanfreluche, was the Leading First Season Sire in Europe in 2008 and is from the great stallion family of Encosta de Lago and Flying Spur. METTRE EN JEU (NZ) 2003 bay, Montjeu (IRE)-Delgatie Queen by Spectacular Love (USA) Stands: Letham Thoroughbreds, Wanganui Mettre En Jeu enjoyed a rewarding three year-old season when he won three times including the Triple Crown Cup-LR at Ellerslie and finished second in the New Zealand Derby-Gr.1 and the Great Northern Guineas-Gr.3 and ran third in the Waikato Guineas-Gr.3 . A winner in Australia as a four year- old, he is a son of the hugely influential Montjeu (Sadler’s Wells) and is a half-brother to Saint Cecile (New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes- Gr.1, twice). Mettre En Jeu hails from the family of the Champion Juvenile Pompeii Pearl (Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes-Gr.1). MOUNT NELSON (IRE) 2004 bay, Rock of Gibraltar (IRE)-Independence by Selkirk Stands: Newsells Park Stud, UK A dual Gr.1 winner, Mount Nelson was a standout juvenile with a track record victory in the Criterium International at Saint-Cloud before he was sidelined by injury. He returned to his best form as a four year-old to win the Eclipse Stakes-Gr.1 at Sandown and also ran third in the Arlington Million-Gr.1 . His dam won the Sun Chariot Stakes-Gr.1 and the Matron Stakes-Gr.1 and Mount Nelson is a half-brother to the York Great Voltigeur Stakes-Gr.2 winner Monitor Closely. MURTAJILL (AUS) 2004 grey, Rock of Gibraltar (IRE)-Skating by At Talaq (USA) Stands: Patinack Farm, Sandy Hollow A $A600,000 weanling, Murtajill was a precocious youngster who claimed the first Australian stakes race of his juvenile season when he dashed away with the Breeders’ Plate-LR in a record 57 seconds. As a three year-old only Weekend Hussler was rated above Murtajill after the son of Rock of Gibraltar ran second against the older horses in the All Aged Stakes-Gr.1 and the Doomben 10,000-Gr.1. Murtajill is out of the Doncaster Handicap-Gr.1 winner Skating, who is also the dam of the Magic Millions 2YO Classic-LR and Canonbury Stakes-LR winner and sire Bradbury’s Luck.
