Bluebloods : Inglis Sydney Classic 2011 Preview
GARRY ISAAC singled out a son of the Silver Slipper Stakes winner Shaft as a potential headline act from Dengari Lodge's Inglis Classic Sale draft. The colt, from Coda Belle, is a half- brother to five winners, including Devil In Disguise, a Listed winner of five races and Gr.3 placed. "He's a really nice type and very masculine," Isaac said. "I haven't seen as much muscle on a yearling as this bloke's got for years." The colt's dam is by Century and hails from the family of the multiple stakes winner Gorgonite. Isaac also has high expectations for the son of the Oakleigh Plate winner Snitzel and the End Sweep mare Special Sweep (Lot 258). "He's a very good mover and typical of Snitzel and he looks like an early two year-old type." The colt is a half-brother to two winners, including the stakes performed Distinctive Lass, and is a grandson of the triple Gr.1 winner Special, dam of eight winners and grandam of grand old campaigner and triple Gr.1 winner Bomber Bill. The sole filly in the Dengari consignment is by the Gr.1-winning sprinter Charge Forward out of the American bred Gone West mare Wester Skeld, who won twice in France. "She really is a cracking type," Isaac said. The filly is a half-sister to four winners in Japan and her grandam is the Danehill Gr.1 winner Danish (QEII Challenge Cup, Keeneland). The Pendragon youngster is the first foal of the winning Desert Prince mare Devali, who is closely related to the Todman Slipper Trial-Gr.2 winner Pauillac. "He's a colt with plenty of scope and he'll grow into a really smart type." Dengari's Haradasun colt is the first foal of the Encosta De Lago mare Issey, who is a daughter of the dual stakeswinning Danehill mare Princesa. "He's a good walker, and while he's a late foal he'll be looking good at sale time." The colt's third dam is the Gr.1 winner Kapchat. Completing the draft is a son of the Victoria Derby winner Benicio. "He's a good colt, and type-wise he's a smart individual." He is a half-brother to a winner, out of the Youthful Legs mare Youthful Edition who won 12 races.
