Bluebloods : Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Preview 2011
THE 2011 BMW Magic Millions Carnival and Race Day promises to be the most exciting in the event's history, with the appointment of the stunning internationally renowned Australian model and Myer Ambassador, Jessica Hart, as the face of this year's carnival. Now based in New York, Jessica has become the IT model of the New York and international fashion scene and is one of Australia's hottest model exports. She will fly into the Gold Coast in January as the ambassadTHE victory by Military Rose in the 2010 Magic Millions 2YO Classic was the culmination of a lifelong dream for Gillian and Hoss Heinrich, for while the vast majority of trainers dream of a Melbourne Cup win, Gillian placed a Magic Millions victory on even higher pedestal: "When I first started out riding work I thought 'oh my God, imagine winning that race'. As a Queenslander, it's always been the Magic Millions Classic for me," she said. The emotions of the Military Rose win spilled over into a sea of pink and black in the mounting enclosure following the race. Gillian, Hoss and daughter Tayla were swept away in joyous celebrations among family and friends, but in running, a cautious Gillian was careful not to celebrate too soon. This was despite the two year-old filly appearing to have a stranglehold on the race well out from home. "Jantzen led right to the 200m and stopped. I didn't want to celebrate too soon." Husband Hoss is a prominent building and construction industry figure on the Gold Coast who has invested millions in the couple's dream at top level track success. A more hardened punter, Hoss was happy to 'put the glasses down' coming to the turn. "I thought they would have to be pretty good to run her down the way she was travelling," Hoss recalled following the win. Military Rose would win the Reisling Slipper Trial-Gr.2 at Rosehill at her next start, and her record stands at five wins from nine starts for earnings of $1.54m. Aside from significant land holdings in the Gold Coast equine precinct where Gillian prepares a 40-horse team, the Heinrichs also own a sizeable property on the Darling Downs called Darlington Stud. With a growing broodmare band and brilliant sprinter All Bar One (trained by Gillian to win nine races including the 2006 Sir Byrne Hart Stakes-Gr.2 and $550,000) now at stud, the Heinrich racing and breeding empire is growing fast. The second crop by All Bar One sells in 2011, with seven youngsters being offered by the son of Hennessy-Max's Sister (USA) by Phone Trick at the Gold Coast in January. Darlington Stud will also sell 12 yearlings at the 2011 Gold Coast sale, adding another major component for the Heinrich team to manage.
