Bluebloods : April 2010
THE White family's Scone-based Invermien has two yearlings and 21 mares going to the Inglis Easter Australian Yearling Sale (April 6-8) and the Australian Broodmare Sale (April 13-16) at Newmarket. Greg White of Invermien is continuing with his policy of selling all yearlings bred at Invermien, and at the same time is offering quality mares for the discerning breeder. As part of a new approach at Invermien, this season will be the first when outside mares may become permanent boarders at the stud. Following the late withdrawal of Invermein's More Than Ready colt (Lot 145) the stud will have two quality yearlings on offer and Greg described them as "very nice colts, just what you would expect from Easter offerings". The first into the ring is Lot 21, a chestnut colt by Hussonet ex Loftily (by Shovhog). By the sire of Weekend Hussler, this colt is the first living foal of a talented three times stakes placed mare who won eight races. This is the family of the high class sprinter and outstanding stallion Zeditave. "A very athletic colt, great walker and scopey and a great type." Lot 459, a bay or brown colt by More Than Ready ex Grooves (by Marscay), is a half-brother to the dam of Lot 21, the excellent mare Loftily, and out of a dual city- winning, half-sister to the stakes placed Mariton, dam of the Gr.1 placed Arboretum. "A typical Marscay type of colt, taking after his dam's sire. Good strong shoulder, great gaskins and a real athlete." The draft of mares for the Easter Broodmare Sale is a strong one and worthy of inspection. Lot 356 is Readyor, a stakeswinning More Than Ready mare, a grandaughter of the multiple Gr.1 winner Triscay; Lot 682, Grey Plover, is an imported daughter of Alzao and the Listed winner Firecrest. Served early November by Starcraft; Lot 684, Heretis, is a daughter of Dehere and Triscay being sold as a racing and breeding proposition; Lot 687, Junebug, is a stakes placed triple city-winning Shovhog half-sister to the stakes winner Light Sweeper. Served early October by Starcraft; Lot 693, Loftily, is a stakes placed multiple city winner served last September by Snippetson; Lot 695, Maltese, is a city-winning Tale of the Cat half-sister to the stakes winner Jesterella Boy.
