Bluebloods : Inglis Sydney Classic
ROBYN Wise, one of Australia's most respected conditioners of young thoroughbreds, is busy preparing five Inglis Classic Sale yearlings from fine families. The first into the ring at the Newmarket complex on January 24 will be Lot 97, a black or brown colt by Seidnazar from Hot Sax (by Woodman), who is a half-brother to Hotact, a winner twice this season. This colt hails from the second crop of a fast stakeswinning son of Golden Slipper winner Rory's Jester. His dam is a lightly raced mare from the family of one of that stallion's finest sons, the dual Gr.3 winner Armidale. Boasting duplications of Mr. Prospector, Star Kingdom and Biscay - as well as a 7fx7m cross of the terrific mare Tara- he can also count among his relations the dual Gr.1 winner Double Century and the stakes winners Jamesina, Duchy's Pride, Century Love and Watches. Lot 166 is a bay filly by Holy Roman Emperor from Miss American Pie (by Unbridled's Song) and is bred on the prolific Northern Dancer/Mr. Prospector cross. This first crop daughter of one of Danehill's classiest sons (a dual Gr.1 winner at two for Coolmore), is a half-sister to the smart South African galloper American Man. Her dam is a winning half-sister to the local stakes winner Tyrannic and from the family of the US Gr.1 winner Arewehavingfunyet and the dual Hong Kong Gr.2 winner Best of the Best. Lot 281 is a bay colt by Canny Lad from Shady Affair (by Danehill). His sire, one of the strongest survivors of the Star Kingdom line, is enjoying a resurgence of late and looks to have a rising star in the shape of talented three year-old King Pulse. That Gr.1-placed sprinter is bred on the same Canny Lad/Danehill cross as this fellow, and we know how well the reverse cross has worked - one of the prime examples being Redoute's Choice! Shady Affair is a winning half-sister to the stakes placed Crazy Deputy from the family of the US Gr.1 winner Vilzak. Lot 358 is another brown colt by Seidnazar and from Una Mina (by Timber Country). He is closely related to Lot 97 - and, like that colt, is being sold on behalf of Banchory Thoroughbreds. This youngster is a three-quarter brother to Armidale and the dam of his sire - Dangerous Seam - and his dam are bred on the same Mr. Prospector/Star Kingdom cross. He also boasts a 7fx6m cross of the fine mare Tara. Lot 411 is a bay or brown colt by Widden shuttler Southern Image and from Allora (by Pompeii Court). From the second crop of a Gr.1-winning member of the Halo sire line who had plenty of first crop juvenile winners in the US in 2009, he is out of a lightly raced mare whose first foal is already a winner. Her dam Fancy Brenna, a daughter of the US stakes winner Amerigo's Fancy, is grandam of the Waikato Guineas- Gr.3 winner Sista, but there is a better-known member of this family in this part of the world - the mighty Makybe Diva!
