Bluebloods : Inglis Sydney Classic
FOR more than three decades, James and Fiona Middleton of Redbank North, Harden have been dedicated to raising and caring for quality thoroughbreds - staunch in their belief of "providing the ideal environment to help equine athletes develop to their full potential". Seven well related yearlings comprise this stud's draft at the Inglis Classic Sale on January 24-25 in Sydney and the youngsters were raised on Redbank North's 526ha (1300 acres) and are well worthy of inspection, being attractive individuals with strong pedigrees. The first of Redbank North's youngsters into the Sydney ring will be Lot 89, a brown filly by Strategic from Greendale Lass (by Alzao). She is by one of the country's most reliable stallions whose runners include Meurice, Mistegic, Strategic News and Fair Embrace and she is a half-sister to the multiple city winner The Slam and the smart Macau galloper My Dark Chocolate. Her dam is a Flemington-winning daughter of the US stakes placed mare Fayette County, dam of the Brisbane Cup-Gr.1 and Adelaide Cup-Gr.1 winner Sheer Kingston and third dam of the Easter Cup-Gr.3 winner Adolescence. Bred on a 7mx7m cross of the wonderful mare Source Sucree, she can also count among her relations the northern hemisphere stakes winner Tango Dancer, Straight Line, Star Prospector, Thesaratogaexpress and Dancer Sussy. Lot 176 is a bay filly by Strada from Montecatini (by Marauding). Bred on the successful Danehill/Sir Tristram cross, she is a member of the debut crop of a fast, well- related son of Danehill and Coolmore Classic-Gr.1 winner Shindig. She is the second foal of a mare who won three sprint races and is a half-sister to the city winners Royal Hero, Starspect and Regency Kingdom - as well as the promising David Hayes-trained Grosvenor Tsar. Grandam Star of Grosvenor is a half-sister to the French Gr.1 winner Carmine Lake and her grandam is the US Champion Turf Filly Royal Heroine. With crosses of Northern Dancer, Never Bend and Buckpasser, she can also boast among her relatives the local stakes winners Pushy Dancer and Diffraction and she is a descendant of the acclaimed matriarch Marchetta. Lot 181 is a bay colt by Mossman from Mount Juliet (by O'Reilly). By a consistent and classy stallion whose juveniles are winning everywhere this season, he is the first foal of a mare from one of Australasia's best families - one that produced three Gr.1 winners in 2009 - Monaco Consul, Fiumicino and Nicconi. Other big race winners from this prolific clan include Interstellar, Horlicks, Brew, General Nediym, Laelia, Sealegs and Military Plume. Lot 316 is a bay colt by Fastnet Rock from Storm Fille (by Thunder Gulch). He is bred on the prolific Northern Dancer/Mr. Prospector cross and this son of an exciting young Danehill sire is a half-brother to the multiple city winner Greatwall of China, out of a stakes placed three times city-winning, half-sister to the stakes placed Chestnut Dream. This is also the family of the stakes winners Maze, Penitentiary, Barlinnie and Shamrock King. Lot 319 is a bay colt by Magic Albert from Succession (by Kingston Rule). By an excellent son of Zeditave (his runners include Magic Cape, Marchinski and Something Anything), this colt is out of an unraced sister to the VRC Oaks-Gr.1 heroine Kensington Palace. Grandam is the AJC Sires' Produce Stakes-Gr.1 winner Reganza, from the family of the Italian Gr.1 winners Stone and Stouci. He is a descendant of Tesio's wonderful mare Delleana, in turn a descendant of the incomparable Pretty Polly. Lot 424 is a brown colt by Domesday from Ascension (by Grand Lodge). From the second crop of a regally bred Red Ransom stallion who won the Silver Slipper Stakes- Gr.2, he is out of a city-winning, half-sister to the durable multiple stakes winner Upwards and the stakes placed Airs 'N' Graces. Hailing from the family of the Champion Two Year Old Victory Vein, he is a grandson of the Emancipation Stakes-LR winner Aspirations. Interesting pedigree with the dam of his sire - In The Past - and his dam sire Grand Lodge being bred on the same Secretariat/Sir Gaylord (half-brothers) cross. Lot 455 is a bay colt by Oratorio from Blayney Breeze (by Dahar). His Eclipse Stakes-Gr.1-winning sire, a son of Danehill, has made a great start to his career in the northern hemisphere and his first locals are just two. This fellow is a half-brother to the Gr.3 sprinter Recapitalize out of a winning mare from the family of the fast stakes winners Royal Handout and Caribou. His sire and dam sire are bred on the same Northern Dancer/Vaguely Noble cross. January 2010 23 THREE DECADES of experience at Redbank North 7 Yea ling - 5 Col - 2 Fillie - b 7 diffe en Si e ....
