Bluebloods : Inglis Sydney Classic
PARADISE for horses" is Glenmore Park Stud's claim, its 182ha (450 acres) at Tamworth dedicated to the thoroughbred. Run by Phil Greenwood and a passionate team, the farm has produced several outstanding gallopers including Jymcarew (Canterbury Guineas-Gr.1), Noble Red (Chester Manifold Stakes-LR), High Rolling (dual Listed winner) and the particularly tough Maltese Beauty (Newcastle Gold Cup-Gr.2). Glenmore is taking six yearling to the Inglis Classic Sale on January 24-25, four of them members of the flourishing Danehill line. One of those is by the reliably classy Golden Sllipper-Gr.1 winner Danzero. Lot 436 is the first foal produced by the Zabeel mare Balbeel, a daughter of the NZ Champion Stayer Smiling Like, winner of seven races including the Wellington Cup-Gr.1. Her dam is the wonderful broodmare Eusaci, dam of 11 winners including the Gr.1 winners Sirstaci and Nimue. Lot 80 is another grandaughter of Danehill, this lass being a daughter of the excellent Commands, member of the always-prolific Eight Carat clan. She is the first foal for an unraced sister to the handsome Listed winner Noble Red and three-quarter sister to the three times stakes winner Oomph. Her grandam is the dual Listed winner Nobellotto, in turn grandaughter of the multiple Gr.1-winning New Zealander Jandell. Another boasting Danehill as grandsire is Lot 245, a colt from the second local crop of the Eclipse Stakes-Gr.1 winner Oratorio, who has made such an encouraging start to his stud career in the northern hemisphere. This fellow, a three- quarter brother to the city winner Measured, is out of a winning half- sister to the dual Group winner Lawyer and to the dam of the three- times Gr.3 winner Judged. Boasts a 5mx6m cross of the wonderful mare Flower Bowl. Lot 56 is a great-grandaughter of Danehill, a bay hailing from the second crop of the Golden Slipper winner Stratum. She is the first foal for the dual winner Finer Feelings (Secret Savings), a half-sister to the Listed winner Strabane. Boasting a 6fx6f cross of the prolific mare Best In Show, she is a descendant of another acclaimed matriarch in Black Ray - ancestress of Blushing Groom and Mill Reef. Two other well bred yearlings make up the Glenmore draft, the first to go through the ring being Lot 9, a Strategic filly out of De la Rouge (High Yield), a three-quarter sister to Judged and half-sister to Lawyer. Lot 255, a colt from the first crop of the dual Gr.1 winner Valixir. His dam is the King of Kings mare Royal Find.
