Bluebloods : Inglis Sydney Classic
LIKE most of us in the thoroughbred industry, staff at Dengari Lodge fully appreciate the strength of the ever flourishing Danehill sire line, and are delighted that seven of the stud's eight Inglis Classic Sale yearlings are members of it. Sons and daughters of Dane Shadow, Nadeem, Stratum, Not A Single Doubt, Oratorio, Excites and Bel Danoro make up a great draft, and the odd one out is a beauty too - a son of Lonhro, a sire who is getting winners everywhere, every week! Lot 243 is a bay colt by Dane Shadow from Quinella (by Generous). His regally bred sire, a Gr.3-winning son of Danehill and Gr.1 star Slight Chance, is doing a very good job with winners like Shellscrape, Shadow Assassin and Hurtle Myrtle, and this fellow is a half-brother to two multiple winners including the handy Singapore performer Able Win. His imported dam is a half-sister to the Royal Ascot Gr.2 winner Gull Nook, dam of the dual Gr.1- winning, champion sire Pentire and grandam of the Italian Gr.1 winner Konigstiger. Lot 294 is a bay filly by Nadeem from Snow Maker (by Timber Country). Bred on the same Redoute's Choice/Woodman cross as super-filly Miss Finland, she is a member of the debut crop of a Blue Diamond Stakes- Gr.1 winner. A three-quarter sister to the city placed Pure Essence, she is out of a daughter of the Gr.2 mare Adraanito, dam of the Ascot Vale Stakes-Gr.2 winner Spargo and grandam of the stakes winners Celestial Show and Fashion Victim. Lot 302 is a bay filly by Stratum from Sophistocat (by Catrail). She is a half-sister to the WA city winner Ngoma and out of a stakes placed multiple city-winning half-sister to the Listed winner Sir Success and the stakes placed Sir Canny. Hailing from the family of the US champ Arazi and Northerly's sire Serheed, she carries four strains of Northern Dancer and one each of his close relations Danehill and Catrail. Lot 303 is a bay colt by Excites from South Terrace (by Blevic). Boasting duplications of Northern Dancer, his son Nijinsky II, Ribot and Biscay, this yearling is a member of the first crop of the a well bred Gr.1 winner (Danewin--Staging by Success Express). He is the first foal for a lightly raced sister to the Listed winner Red Labelle, dam of the recent stakes winner Strawberry Field. Third dam is the stakes winner High Polish, dam of the Listed winner Angel on High and grandam of the Gr.2 winner Silver Glade. Lot 385 is a chestnut colt by Bel Danoro from Youthful Edition (by Youthful Legs). He is a descendant of the influential matriarch Marchetta and hails from the first crop of a speedy Danehill stallion. His dam won 12 races and she is from the family of the stakes winners Ben's Rocket, Come On Up, Warwick Castle and Bold Alliance. Boasts an interesting pedigree, his grandsires Danehill and Youthful Legs sharing the same grandam Spring Adieu. Youthful Edition's first runner, the three year-old Shasta Moon (Beautiful Crown) is a winner from two starts since the catalogue went to print. Lot 415 is a bay colt by Not A Single Doubt from Angel Lorraine (by Last Tycoon). His sire is proving a solid source of winners, as is his dam, a multiple city-winning half-sister to the Gr.3 winner Heavenly Guide. Angel Lorraine has already produced five winners, including the smart Sydney mare Anytime Angel. His grandsire Redoute's Choice and his dam's grandsire Try My Best are from the same prolific family, providing for a 6fx5f cross of the wonderful mare Best In Show. Lot 453 is a bay or brown filly by Oratorio from Bit of a Ride (by Snippets). Bred on the highly successful Danehill/Snippets cross, she is from the second crop of a Gr.1-winning Danehill stallion who has made a great start to his stud career in the northern hemisphere with 14 winners, including stakes winners Beethoven and Big Audio in his first crop this year. Her dam is a multiple city winner from the family of the Gr.1 sprinter Magnus and the flying filly Black Caviar. Other relations include the stakes winners Scandinavia, Wilander, Frosty The Snowman, Midnight Sun, Russian Tea Room and Muirfield Village. Lot 498 is a bay colt by Lonhro from Church On Sunday (by Bubble Gum Fellow). By the sire of the moment, this fellow is a half-brother to the smart Macau galloper Happy Gladiator, unbeaten with six wins from six starts, out of a city-placed, half-sister to the Group winners Sanziro and Flying Object. His grandam is the terrific mare Will Fly, a five-time Gr.3 winner.
